No matter your situation, elopements and small weddings are an optimal choice for those who want to have a smaller yet still intensely meaningful wedding experience.

But maybe you’re not totally sure what that looks like or where to start. I’m here to help.

First things first…What does it mean to elope?

what is an Elopement?

An elopement or micro wedding, is an intimate wedding experience where the focus rests solely on you. Sometimes referred to as a micro-wedding, or a petite wedding.

No matter what you call it, this is your chance to cast off irrelevant traditions, elevate what is most important to you, and celebrate your marriage in a way that genuinely represents who you are as a couple.

✓ Just the two of you, or bring your closest family and friends.

✓ Your elopement should be intentional, not always short, cheap and poorly planned.

✓ Elopement on a mountaintop, in the city, or anywhere! This is about you.

Fundamentally, elopements are still weddings. This is still the day you will look back on for the rest of your life as the day you got married.

So what does an ELOPEMENT look like?

Here are two examples of what your elopement day could look like

Elope in the Shenandoah

Charlie and Kelly, two New York natives, chose the Shenandoah to be the place where they committed their lives together.

Elope in Washington DC

For Jim and Nicole, their story took them right back to the place they love, their home, Washington DC.

We spent the day exploring some of their favorite iconic DC locations then joined twenty of their closest family and friends for a ceremony at the WWI Memorial.

Elopements are an intimate wedding experience where the focus rests solely on you

One of the biggest differences of an elopement vs a traditional wedding day is that each and every element on your wedding day will focus solely on you. Everyone you invite and everything you do will strongly point back to the reason for the day.

This doesn’t mean other people are not important, in fact it means just the opposite! It means you can be highly intentional about who you include and what you do to celebrate.

elevate what is most important and celebrate in a way that is truly you.

This isn’t a traditional wedding, so you don’t have to do traditional things if you don’t want to! Go on a hike, say your vows in a hot air balloon, visit your favorite restaurant, explore your city streets, do something you’ve always wanted to do together, the list is endless!

While I have a passion for those who love the outdoors and are having an adventure-themed elopement, I’m also here to document any and all intimate wedding days and small ceremonies, no matter where that takes you!

When it all comes down to it, I am just as excited about elopements and micro-weddings as I am about traditional weddings because I’ve seen just how meaningful, special, and memorable they can be. For many, an elopement is the perfect option.
